VMware Site Recovery Manager 5 – Recovery Plans
1. Within Site Recovery Manager 5, click on Recovery Plans on the left hand side.

2. Click Create Recovery Plan on the right hand side window. Select Secondary Site Lab for where the vm’s will be recovered. Click Next.

3. Select the Protection Group that we created in
Part 7 of this series. Click Next.

4. In the vmlab secondary datacenter I have 2 networks setup. VM Network Recovered and VM Network Testing. When we execute a test failover, any vm’s that are destined for VM Network Recovered will placed in an isolated test network. Therefore in this step, for the recovery network VM Network Recovered, I will select VM Network Testing.

5. As you can see the VM Network Testing is now selected as our Test Network.

6. Give your Recovery Plan a name and description. Click Next.

7. A summary of your recovery plan is displayed. If you are happy with your settings click Finish.

8. As you can see in the image below our
Site Recovery Manager 5 Recovery Plan is now created and is placed under All Recovery Plans. The Status is displayed on the right hand side along with a summary. At the top of the screen you can see 2 options, Test and Recovery. Test will execute a test DR failover, placing the vm’s in the isolated network VM Test Network. Recovery will execute a real failover and placing the vm’s in the network VM Network Recovery. We will execute these in the next few tutorials.

9. Clicking on the Recovery Steps, you can see the 9 steps that are used to execute the Recovery Plan. Virtual Machines are automatically placed in the Power On Priority 3 VM’s. To give a virtual machine higher or lower priority you can simply click on virtual machine and change the priority. Higher priority vm’s will start before lower priority vm’s.
